News flash from the NY Post: Nicholas Minucci, aka "Fat Nick" who is serving 15 years for a hate crime, and Peter Braunstein, the fashion writer who kidnapped and tortured a former colleague, are apparently "best friends" at the Clinton Correctional Facility. Not only do they both really love "Gossip Girl," Brauntsein said, "[Nick]'s a good kid. He's one of the few people I enjoy talking to here," while Minucci returns the compliments, "Pete's just a witty guy."
The two initially met while they were both held at Rikers. Minucci also says of Braunstein, who set a fire in his victim's apartment building hallway and posed as a fireman to gain access to her home, "He's one the smartest guys I've ever come in contact with." But since Braunstein also thinks he's the "happiest I've ever been" behind bars, Minucci admits, "Sometimes I think he's so smart, he's stupid. What's crazy about him is that he accepts it here. He just doesn't care."
