Earlier today, President Obama was in Buffalo, where he met with families of Flight 3407 victims and spoke at metal manufacturer Industrial Support, discussing the economy, "We can now say without a shadow of a doubt: We are headed in the right direction," but added, "If you're still looking for a job, it's still a recession... No matter what the economists say, it's not a real recovery until people can feel it in their own lives." (Yes, they do.) He was told by a woman at Duff's Wings, "You're a hottie with a smokin' little body."
As for Obama's specific order, he got 10 medium wings (5 regular, 5 extra crispy), small fries, and onion rings. The waitress, Mary Digiacomo, says (video), "He was more than I expected. He's really nice. He's really tall... He walked around all the tables and said hi to everyone and made time for everyone." She added that he and his staffers didn't sit because the restaurant was full.
Obama is in NYC tonight for a fundraiser, which is hosted by a number of NY's Congressional Democrats (but not Carolyn Maloney). Paying $15,000-$25,000 per person for the St. Regis meal will not only get you some speeches but also "Chilled Maine lobster with avocado and black radish in yuzu dressing; Roasted filet mignon with truffle gift box potato; Braised leeks and broccoli in cabernet sauce; Opera cake in mini chocolate oven; Petit fours" from French Culinary Institute deans Alain Sailhac, André Soltner, Jacques Pépin, and Jacques Torres.
