One of the three pedestrians injured when a car jumped the curb in the Bronx yesterday says that she escaped more serious injuries because her husband shoved her from the path of the vehicle.
“My husband pushed me out of the way,” 46-year-old Francis Wright told the Post. Wright needed five stitches in her leg, while her husband suffered a broken leg. "He hit a car first, then he hit the wall, then he hit us,’’ Wright said of the 87-year-old driver of the car. An NYPD spokeswoman said that the driver hit the gas pedal instead of the brake near the intersection of 149th Street and Bergen Avenue, and careened onto the sidewalk before striking a ConEd vehicle and ricocheting into a building.
The spokeswoman added that three pedestrians suffered non-life threatening injuries, and that the driver of the vehicle was transported to Lincoln Hospital for observation. No charges have been filed, and there is no criminality suspected.
