A driver struck and killed a 4-year-old boy in a Brooklyn crosswalk on Thursday and fled the scene after the collision, police officials said.
Police said they received a 911 call about the incident near Linden Boulevard and Rockaway Parkway in Brownsville shortly after 11 a.m.
The driver was behind the wheel of a white SUV heading north on the parkway with a green traffic light when they hit the child, who was crossing the street from west to east in the mid-block crosswalk, according to the NYPD.
The driver then drove away, officials said.
The NYPD said the boy was taken to Brookdale University Hospital, adjacent to the crash site, and pronounced dead.
Officials identified him as Zachariah Padilla. They said he lived in East Flatbush.
There have been no arrests and the investigation is ongoing.
