Are you intrigued by illegal street art in abandoned subway stations, hipsters in costumes with shopping carts, and what tourists learn about NYC from movies and TV? And do you want to join the team at Gothamist? We're creating a new position for a junior-level editor who will cover a range of topics, focusing on arts and events, but also pitching in with other news stories.
This is a paid, full-time position (with health and dental insurance), mostly in-person at our DUMBO office, but days and hours may vary from a normal 9-to-5 job. Responsibilities will include writing a large volume of posts each day, as well as editing posts written by others. You must also be comfortable reporting: calling sources, interviewing people, tracking down quotes, etc.
Requirements: Between 3-5 years of full time blogging experience, a ferocious drive and piercing wit, a deep and abiding interest in New York City (especially the food and arts scenes), and the stamina to create 10-12 well written posts per day. If you're interested, send a brief email with relevant links and resume details to [email protected], subject "associate editor" (no attachments, please).
