Giants linebacker Michael Boley is being investigated by authorities in Alabama for allegedly abusing his 5-year-old son. According to TMZ, Boley is accused of "the repeated willful abuse of a child under 18 from May 30 to June 5." A grand jury has to decide whether there is enough evidence to formally charge Boley with a crime, but Boley's attorney noted the mother had sued for more money previously, but never sought an order restricting visitation: "She sued him over a year ago for child support. The trial was in October and all she sought was five times the child support," lawyer Randall M. Kessler told the News.
As Kessler explained to TMZ, "These allegations were brought to our attention along with outrageous monetary demands in a contested child support case which she filed over a year ago." Kessler added that the mother, who lives in Boley's hometown of Gadsden, Ala., "did not seek an order restricting visitation. The only relief she requested from the judge was that child support be more than quintupled to, in her words, 'increase her lifestyle.'"
Following this report, another woman who has a 2-year-old child with Boley has filed court papers in Georgia asking a judge to require the football star to be supervised when spending time with their child. Boley has one previous arrest for domestic violence: he was charged with three counts of domestic battery for allegedly beating his wife, Chantelle. He allegedly pushed her into a kitchen cabinet door, leaving bruises on her upper back.
Boley has six children, including one who is autistic; as a result, Boley has been heavily involved in several charities to help autistic children, and hosts an annual celebrity bowling night to benefit autism organization Every Day Kids with Special Needs. Boley gained some notoriety earlier this season when he spiked a football into an intern's face after scoring a touchdown during a Monday night victory against the Rams—he blamed his lateral throw on the "emotion of the play," and ended up hugging it out with video intern Ryan Brown in the locker room after the game.
