In case you haven't noticed there are only two things on the Internet's mind today: all 20 of the most-searched terms on Google this morning related to either the devastating tornadoes hitting the southern states Royal Wedding...or the NFL draft!
Thursday night was draft night at Radio City Music Hall this year, and even the nuptials of Prince William and Kate Middleton couldn't drown out the cascade of boos which greeted NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. The Jets chose defensive lineman Muhammad Wilkerson, a NJ native, in the first round, but the Giants pulled off the bigger pick: cornerback Prince Amukamara, a descendant of Nigerian royalty, who was pegged as a top ten pick. He and his family definitely won for best dressed of the night.
"This one truly was a shock. You go through scenarios leading up to the draft, where you have somewhat unrealistic scenarios of what could happen. This one was just completely out of left field. We never thought this kid would've been still on the board at 19," said Marc Ross, the Giants' director of college scouting. Giants fans were extremely pleased with the pick as well. YahooSports wrote that "the Giants may now have the best pass defense in the NFC." Even the News savored the moment: "On the night before the Royal Wedding, the Giants found their Prince."

One of the other big stories of the night was the drafting of Alabama running back and Heisman trophy winner Mark Ingram Jr., who now has a life-size chicken-salad sculpture of himself in Midtown. Ingram Jr., the son of former Giant Mark Ingram (who is currently in prison), was picked 28th by the New Orleans Saints. After he was picked, ESPN's Suzy Kolber read him an email from his incarcerated father, providing for an emotional moment. Watch it below:
