2007_03_mcgreevey.jpgWe can't figure this out! Apparently former NJ Governor James McGreevey wants custody of daughter Jacqueline AND child support from ex-wife Dina Matos. The last time we checked, McGreevey was living in a 17-room mansion with his boyfriend Mark O'Donnell, a financier. And he wrote a book that could pay some of the bills, we think.

According to the Star-Ledger, Matos makes $82,000 as the executive director of the Columbus Hospital Foundation. She has over a month to respond to the filing, but McGreevey friend, NJ State Senator Ronald Lesniak said, "Obviously, the settlement discussions aren't going too well." You think?

In January, it was announced that Hyperion Books would release a book from Matos. From the press release:

Beyond their initial chemistry, Dina Matos was attracted by Jim McGreevey's principles and his unwavering devotion to his work. She didn't know that his life, and thus their marriage, were built on a foundation of lies; that his campaign stops were dotted by casual sexual encounters at truck stops and gay clubs; or that, by his own admission, he began an adulterous affair with another man while she was in the hospital awaiting the birth of their child. "Could I have known," she asks? 'How could I have known?'

With scalding honesty, she tells of her life with the former governor, of the politics and public service that brought them together, and the lies that tore them apart. Here is a story of a marriage that was anything but happily-ever-after, told by a strong and resilient woman who can, and finally will, speak for herself.

Might McGreevey's demands be a way to get Matos to put the kibosh on scalding details? And maybe Matos should call Terry McMillan to start a support group.
