Just as the city braces for another jobs crisis, former NJ Gov. Jon Corzine is poised to take on three new titles. Effective immediately, he'll head up MF Global, a Wall Street options and futures firm; starting soon he'll be a partner at J.C. Flowers & Company, a buyout firm; and next semester, Princeton students will call him Professor. “I like working,” said the 63-year-old who broke 15 bones and almost died in a 2007 car accident. Maybe he'll tell those Princeton kids to buckle up!
Before getting mixed up in politics, Corzine toiled for 30+ years at Goldman Sachs, then spent tens of millions to launch himself into the U.S. Senate and NJ Governor's Mansion. Now, after losing the gubernatorial race, he says he's ready to go back: “Wall Street is a world I enjoyed in the first 30 years I was involved and I hope I have another 30 years.” The Times posits that Corzine's political experience will help both financial service companies as they adjust to reform imposed by Washington.
As for his Princeton gig, AHN News says Corzine's been appointed John L. Weinberg/Goldman Sachs Visiting Professor 2010-2011 academic year. His teaching schedule will include a fall lecture series on financial market regulation and a spring state policy course for grad students.
