Former Alaska governor, 2008 vice presidential candidate and reality star Sarah Palin was in Long Island yesterday, sitting down to answer questions—and throw out zingers— at the Long Island Association luncheon. She did not confirm her 2012 plans, though she said she'd have to make a decision soon, but Palin did wear a pair of what the NY Post calls "purrrrty" shoes: Strappy leopard print heels. Not surprisingly, 76% of the Huffington Post's readers think they were inappropriate for the event.
LIA president Kevin Law, who asked Palin questions during the 64-minute Q&A (he got high marks from Politico), would not say how much she received for the engagement—Palin commands $100,000 per speech. But he did say she was a popular draw and told the Times, "She told me she loved the format. She probably will do more of it because she did pretty well."
Suffolk County Executive Steve Levy, who disastrously tried to run for the Republican NY gubernatorial nomination last year, said to Newsday, "She was lighthearted and folksy.... People can identify with that," and a female Great Neck business owner liked her a lot, "She's a real person.... I think today she refuted the East Coast snobs that are always making fun of her."
