Who will win today's battle between an Arctic air mass and a coastal low? Bad question, as it is not much of a clash. The cold air will keep the storm well out to sea so at best we'll have a mostly cloudy day and a slight chance of a few snow flakes. Overcast skies will keep this afternoon's high in the upper 20s and the northeast wind will make it feel more like the teens.

Once the temperature does reach the upper 20s it is going to stay there overnight. Enough sunshine will be present tomorrow to push the temperature a few degrees above freezing. Friday's temperature will be about the same but it should be a windy day as yet another Arctic front dips south of the city.

As it stands now we are in for considerable temperature swings over the holiday weekend. The low Saturday morning is expected to be in the teens with the high only reaching the low 30s. Sunday could warm to the mid 40s and be rainy as energy from a storm that's currently over the north Pacific makes its way to the East Coast. The forecasts for MLK Day weather are all calling for near normal temperatures, but disagreeing on how long the rain will stick around.
