A line of showers is moving through the region at the moment as a weak cold front approaches from the west. This is a speedy front; the rain should be gone by early afternoon and the sun will return by late afternoon. There is also not much cold air behind the front as we should warm to the upper 50s today. Extra warm weather for the extra day. February will be the eighth consecutive month with warmer than average temperatures and this winter (Dec-Jan-Feb) will be the second warmest on record in Central Park, trailing only 2011-12.
March will definitely come in like a lamb tomorrow as a weak high pressure system gives us sunny skies and a high in the upper 40s. However, that lamb will be devoured by a lion pretty quickly, first with rain starting Tuesday night and finishing with unseasonably cold weather by the end of the week.
Much like last week, a storm is expected to move up through the Ohio Valley tomorrow, bringing us rain from late Tuesday night through Wednesday morning. This storm won't be quite as strong as last week's, and the worst of the rain should stay offshore, but do look for a rainy, windy start to Wednesday.
A polar front, polar as in really cold, will end the rain around noon on Wednesday and the temperature is going to drop from the lower 50s down to the lower 40s by sunset. The polar air mass will keep the afternoon highs in the mid 30s on Thursday and Friday before a gradual warm-up begins on Saturday.
