Winston Cox, the attempted robber whose gun was shot out of his hands by off duty officer Feris Jones, faces 40 years to life in prison after being indicted on attempted murder charges. Cox has pleaded not guilty to the charges, as has suspect Steven McLeod, one of two other suspects who have been arraigned in the crime.
Police say Cox's statements led to McLeod's arrest; he allegedly supplied Cox with the gun used in the robbery attempt. They have also arrested Nefrititi Earl, who allegedly served as Cox's accomplice. Police previously said a woman had asked about prices before Cox entered, and held the usually-locked door open for him. All three have pleaded not guilty to attempted murder, robbery, aggravated assault and weapon possession.
