The sewer main break that brought 15-20 feet of water to 90 West Street's basement garage now means its residents will be homeless for at least two weeks. Electricity and other utilities to the building were turned off and it was thought things would be fixed in 2-3 days, but building management told residents that the "central electrical distribution room" was so damaged that it needs to be "entirely replaced."

One resident walked up 20 flights to her apartment and told the Daily News, "I came to throw out all the food in the refrigerator because in 15 days, it's going to be a real problem." The building offered suggestions on where residents could stay, but Gothamist commenter Drew, who lives in the building, wrote:

I live there (and no, I don't own a car. None of the neighbors I know own a car, either. It's mostly commuters who park in there). The hotels they've pointed us to are all between $200 and $400 a night--which is way too much for myself and the neighbors I've spoken with. We're all staying with friends, and the management is deducting however many days it takes from our rent.

Further, it seems the hotel rooms suggested by the building have been booked up.

The Post spoke to building co-owner Peter Levenson who hoped tenants would be back sooner than two weeks.
