Thinking about using the beautiful weather this weekend as an excuse to hop the train to Williamsburg? Think again! As we mentioned yesterday the MTA clearly hates the hipsters—once again they are shutting down service on the two-track line for the weekend. And not the usual "get off at Lorimer and take the bus" kind of shutdown, we're talking an all "service between Manhattan and Brooklyn is suspended" kind of shutdown.

There will, however, still be L train service between Rockaway Parkway and Broadway Junction. And the MTA will be offering free shuttles along the L route with free transfers available at the Lorimer Street, Myrtle-Wychoff Avenues, Marcy Ave and Hewes Street and Broadway Junction Stops. Fun!

This being the MTA there are quite a few other smaller service changes planned (for instance the 1 train will be skipping the 28th Street, 23rd Street and 18th Street stops in both directions), but nothing as big as the L shutdown. Which is why we regularly curse the BMT for not building an express track on the line when they had the chance.
