Bank robberies are up in the city (the number of armed bank robberies went up 69 percent to 44 last year!), a fact apparently furthered by the recent release of a career criminal whom the FBI thinks is already back at it. Jack Mannino, dubbed the "Seven Second Bandit" when he was busted in 1999 for his lightning fast heists, was released from prison in July and is now wanted in relation to a bank robbery in Bensonhurst last week.

"It looks like he’s back at it," FBI spokesman Peter Donald said this morning of the 43-year-old bank robber. The feds think that Mannino and an unidentified accomplice robbed a Capitol One Bank last Thursday evening at 6 p.m. According to them the pair "brandished a weapon and took over the bank by force. One of the males proceeded to jump over the bank counter and empty money into a bag. They both fled down 17th Avenue in Brooklyn." The pair pulled the whole thing off in between 60 to 90 seconds.

There is a "significant reward" available for a tip that helps re-catch Mannino. According to the FBI he is "He is a white male, 43 years old, 5'9" tall, and 170 to 180 pounds." His accomplice, meanwhile, is described as "a white male in his 40s, approximately 5'6" to 5'7" tall, and 220 pounds." Anyone with details is asked to call the FBI at 212-384-1000.
