A 28-year-old man was shot in Woodhaven on Friday morning and succumbed to his injuries yesterday, ending the longest string of consecutive days without a homicide in New York City in more than two decades.

Police say that Eric Roman was found shot in the head, leg, and hand shortly before noon on Friday in his Woodhaven home; he died from his injuries at Jamaica Hospital yesterday. Roman's assailant is still at large.

The 12-day murderless streak was the longest since the department began keeping records in 1994.
