As happy as we are about new Mets manager Terry Collins, we couldn't help but feel a little disappointed that there was no room anywhere for former manager Bobby Valentine. But it seems that Valentine might not have had any time for the job anyway: since he left the Mets in 2002, Valentine has been a true jack-of-all-trades. And he just added one more bizarre job to his resume: public servant.

After a successful stint as a manager in Japan, Valentine currently works as a baseball analyst for ESPN, owns a sports cafe in Stamford, Connecticut, Bobby V’s (where he claims to have invented the wrap sandwich), runs the Bobby Valentine Sports Academy, and hosts the annual Bobby Valentine Celebrity Wine & Food Experience. As if he weren't busy enough, Valentine was named this week as the director of public health and safety of his hometown, Stamford. Many don't think he's qualified for the position, while others think it's his first step toward a career in politics. It'll all be worth it to us as long as he finds himself in a situation that forces him to break out his trusty fake mustache.
