A day after the city's Department of Housing Preservation and Development announced the acquisition of two bedbug sniffing dogs, the agency's Gold Street headquarters was facing an infestation. According to the Post, around November 15 of last year the entire third floor was evacuated and 5,000 boxes were sent off for fumigation.
Several Housing Court cases were postponed because of the missing records, and although the bedbugs were said to only be in "isolated areas," everything on the floor was removed for cleaning. "Isolated areas" being the same phrase your ex-boyfriend used before he gave you and all your roommates bedbugs. Though you probably won't be in the best state of mind, let Mickey and Nemo, the HPD's two bedbug-sniffing beagles, woo you with their adorable little "enforcement" vests.
