Another abandonment case, this time of a child in need of medical attention, has led to the arrest of an Emergency Medical Technician. 28-year-old Paul Casson brought a 5-year-old to Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center on New Year's Eve after a motor vehicle accident left the boy with nonlife threatening injuries. Casson apparently did not want to wait to fill out the proper paperwork and took off after forging a nurse's signature. A Department of Investigation spokeswoman interviewed about Casson's arrest yesterday said that the EMT worker simply "didn't want to wait." He could face up to seven years in prison after beingcharged with endangering the welfare of a child. A bus matron recently made headlines—for another New Year's Eve incident—when she left a disabled man in a freezing bus for 17 hours.
