A Queens film production company got a little surprise on Thursday when 10 pounds of marijuana were delivered to their door. Nine plastic pouches of pot packed into two large cardboard boxes were picked up by building security at Kaufman Studios in Astoria; the pot was intended to go to Lowell Schulman, 53, a Williamsburg resident and an electrician at the studio.
Cops from the 114th precinct arrived at about 2:30pm, and Schulman told them he'd ordered the pot (and cologne, and books) but he, ah, hadn't expected quite so much of it. The officers also found five dime bags of crack-cocaine in his pants pocket, and say Schulman already had an outstanding warrant. "He was apprehended without incident, arrested and charged with felony criminal possession of marijuana (10 counts), criminal controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana," the NYPD said in a press statement.
As for from where one can order such substantial cannabis cartons, the cops say the return label on the packages listed a UPS facility in (surprise!) California. And this isn't the first time such a hefty pot delivery has made its way to NYC via the United Parcel Service—just last month, two UPS employees were caught delivering 30 lbs of marijuana to Brooklyn.
