The driver of an MTA bus had to be rescued from the vehicle on Friday morning after he lost control, skidded into a wall and came to a stop hanging precariously off an overpass in the Bronx, according to city officials and video posted to social media.
Police and fire department officials said the driver missed a turn at 8:40 a.m. and careened into a stone wall. The bus ended up dangling over a roadway on the Henry Hudson Parkway and Kappock Street in Spuyten Duyvil.
According to the NYPD and MTA, no passengers were riding the bus and the driver was not injured. It was a BXM1 bus that runs express to and from Manhattan, video posted to the Citizen app shows.
Officials said the cause of the crash was still being investigated.
