It probably doesn't take a scientist to figure out that objects handled by hundreds of people every day will most likely be covered in some germs, but Apple customers were apparently shocked to find out that those filthy objects were their beloved iPads! The Daily News took some samples off the floor samples at three different Apple stores around the city, and found they were covered in dangerous bacteria. In the words of Canarsie resident Brittany Smith, "Eww. Now I need some hand sanitizer."

The iPads contained everything from rash causing Corynebacterium minutissimum to Staphylococcus aureus, the most common cause of staph infections. NYU Langone Medical Center Dr. Philip Tierno said, "Two things increase the risk. The amount of time one spends on the apparatus, and the number of people who touch it." But Apple is defending its cleanliness, and said, "We clean our products and our stores regularly throughout the day." Though you can avoid any possible infections by just washing your hands, the possibility of getting a staph infection is kind of gross. We bet this never happens at Microsoft stores.
