Earlier today we got an alert about a few deer being rescued from the water under the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge... but it turns out the animals weren't taking a little pleasure swim, after all. Tragically, one of the deer was found tied up under the Brooklyn side of the bridge, with its legs bound, according to CityRoom. Two other deer were nearby on the rocks, and reported to the police via a 911 call. The officers on the scene "said they were likely to be turned over to Animal Care and Control."
Earlier in the day another injured deer was found "tangled in some barbed wire... and had to be euthanized"—it was also discovered near the bridge, though it's unclear if the incidents were related. A Bay Ridge man who witnessed some of the scene said "one deer climbed up and got its head caught in between the railing between the bike path and the water," which is pictured here :(
