The world will never be the same after today's cover story in the Daily News, which breaks news that construction workers can be vulgar, coarse, and downright racist—even when they're on the job building the 1 World Trade Center tower. A wide spectrum of stupid, offensive graffiti has been scrawled on the plywood walls of the temporary men's rooms, which are located every five floors of the 104-story building. "Whites only" is written in one of the bathrooms, while a counterpoint "NONE WHITE ONLY" is scrawled on another. "Pretty much every race is covered: Spanish people, Irish people, Jewish people, women," a source tells the tabloid, adding that work on the project has slowed somewhat since they hired Don Rickles.
The tabloid's source also notes that the n-word is scrawled "all over the place," and when the offensive language is painted over, it simply reappears again. Others wonder where President Obama's birth certificate is (note to all the 1 WTC construction workers reading this: it's right here), while another declares, “Woman don’t belong in construction! Maybe painting, that’s it. Then who’s gonna [perform a sex act on] us?”
