An NYPD spokesman says no arrests have been made in the hit and run in Bushwick that left 38-year-old cyclist Julian Valencia critically injured early yesterday morning. The Daily News reports that Valencia is a construction worker who builds bikes in his spare time. "He's always riding his bicycle," Valencia's brother Fabio says. "That's how he got everything…I feel horrible, I don't even know what to say." Valencia's friend, Luke Patterson, added, "He's a great guy, really well-liked. He was planning on building me a bike. Unfortunately, New York is a really tough place to ride bikes."
The car that struck Valencia at the intersection of Central Avenue and George Street was described by police as a "silver sedan." Anyone with information regarding the crime can call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS (8477). You can also submit their tips through the Crime Stoppers' website or by texting tips to CRIMES (274637), then enter TIP577.
