Suffolk County police pulled a man who had been swerving on County Road 19 in Holbrook on Thursday night—and found that he seemed "confused" and couldn't locate paperwork. And then the driver admitted he had been swerving so he could blow into his ignition interlock device.
Apparently Justin Mullaney's Nissan "had an ignition interlock device because of a prior DWI conviction." Yes, a court-ordered ignition interlock device. The NY State Division of Criminal Justice Services explains, "Ignition interlock devices are equipped with recording devices that capture the number of times the automobile was started or attempted to be started, the operator's BAC at the time an attempt was made to start the car, and the duration the automobile was driven during the monitoring period."
Mallany was charged him with driving while ability impaired by drugs.
