An off-duty NYPD officer allegedly got into a bar fight in Bay Ridge early Saturday morning, causing injuries to a Port Authority officer and a firefighter. The fight started around 3 a.m. at The Kettle Black when the NYPD officer got into an argument with a group of five men, who then jumped him and smashed a bottle over his head. "I saw one man grab a bottle and started yelling, 'Come on, come on, a—hole and stabbed the other guy with the bottle,'" one man told the Daily News. "It looked like a war broke out right on the streets of Bay Ridge."

The PA officer and firefighter got involved when they heard the NYPD officer yelling "I'm a cop!" They then attempted to peel the gang off the officer. The gang initially ran to their car to make a getaway, but when the NYPD officer attempted to record the license plate number, one of the assailants allegedly jumped out and started yelling. According to the Post, the PA officer identified himself, but the man said, "I don’t care who the fuck you are," hit the PA officer and kicked him while he was on the ground.

The firefighter tried to cut in, but was stabbed in the arm and lost a pint and a half of blood. The PA officer had a broken jaw, but the NYPD officer walked out with just a few bruises. One of the assailants was allegedly wearing a Mets jersey, inspiring a detective to issue the witty quip, "I don’t know what he was so upset about, the Mets won last night." This fight comes just two months after an FDNY brawl at the Salty Dog bar, also in Bay Ridge.
