In a victory for late night subway riders citywide, the NYPD has busted three pickpockets known for targeting intoxicated riders. Often waiting for riders to fall asleep, Victor Vataj, Darrell Wilson and Christopher Harris would steal wallets and other property before victims inevitably woke up at the last stop, wondering where on earth they were. Deputy Commissioner Paul Browne said, "Their apprehension makes the riding public that much safer." Let's celebrate with a drink!

Wilson was caught stealing the wallet of one sleeping rider at 3:20 a.m. on May 30th. A police complaint said Harris kept the subway doors open while Vataj kept lookout on the subway platform. Who knew stealing a sleeping guy's wallet was a three-man job? The three had over 30 arrests between them, most of which occurred on the subway system. Wilson's bail was set at $100,000 bond, and Vataj's and Harris' bails were both set at $60,000 bond.
