Former parking enforcement officer Daniel Chu, known as Big Bad Dan to residents in Queens where he terrorized funeral processions and pregnant women alike, is suing Queens city councilman Dan Halloran for $6 million, alleging that the pol insulted his Chinese heritage and damaged his reputation. Chu alleges in the complaint that Halloran said, "Go ahead and give me a f*cking ticket. I know the police commissioner and your boss…When you lose this job you can go back to your old job, delivering Chinese food." A spokesman for Halloran denies the charges and tells the Daily News, "Chu is a disgruntled and disgraced traffic agent and his conduct speaks for itself."
Last summer, after Halloran saw Chu running a red light while using a cell phone with his lights flashing, Halloran followed Chu to a Dunkin Donuts, where he was parked illegally, and took this video of Chu writing him a ticket for parking illegally. After Halloran produced evidence that Chu was in the wrong, and Queens residents came out of the woodwork to verify Chu's misconduct, the NYPD took away his car and some vacation time, and eventually moved him to the towing unit.
Chu, who also claims one of Halloran's aides told him to "go fucking go back to China," is asking the judge in the suit to reinstate him to parking enforcement. Given that he used his body as a human shield to box cars in for tickets, his only hope may be an endorsement deal at Dunkin Donuts. Corrupt Coolatas, anyone?
