After two State Assembly members sponsored a bill that would require NYPD officers to shoot to wound—not kill—perps, Police Commissioner Ray Kelly is inviting all City Council members to fire weapons at the NYPD's firing range. City Councilman Peter Vallone (D-Queens), who heads the Public Safety Committee, said, "I would recommend everyone goes. It's a very eye-opening experience, especially for anyone who thinks police officers should shoot guns out of people's hands... They should fire a gun first and see what it's like and try to avoid shooting the birds from the recoil." The Post notes that Vallone owns a rifle.
