Well, would you look at that? Spirit Airlines has gone and found a way to capitalize on Weinergate, running this spectacular bargain flight special: The Weiner Sale! With Fares Too HARD To Resist. Get it?!
In an email blast that went out today, the discount carrier urged customers to "Hurry to book now before this sale gets hacked!" For what it's worth, the sale offers fares starting at $9, but they're only available on select dates, to Spirit Airlines Fare Club Members, and must be booked by tomorrow. Spirit Corporate Communications Director Misty Pinson told The Miami Herald, “ We can confirm with certitude that the photo is in fact our weiner. The ad is ours, and we sent it.”
This is likely just the start of a Weiner-inspired marketing bonanza—over the weekend, Brooklyn restaurant Der Kommissar started selling "Anthony's Weiners," and make-your-own T-shirt/ coffee cup/ random knick-knack emporium Cafe Press told CNN that they'd seen "a big influx of scandal-related tchotchkes, from $25 T-shirts that say "don't tweet your meat," to "Weinergate" bumper stickers."
