2008_01_clemens60minutes.jpgTake three weeks, hire some lawyers and private investigators and this is the best you can do? While the full details won’t be available until Sunday night on 60 Minutes, Roger Clemens has admitted to being injected by Brian McNamee, but only with Lidocaine and B-12. In other words, Clemens is using the same line of defense Barry Bonds used when he claimed it was only flaxseed oil he was taking and not steroids or HGH.

What remains to be seen is how much Mike Wallace goes after Clemens in the interview. Wallace is a well-known Yankees and Clemens fan, so that undermines his credibility in the eyes of some critics. And, there are some big questions that need to be answered like why did Clemens refuse to talk to Senator Mitchell before the report came out? It would also be very interesting to hear what Clemens think about Andy Pettitte’s admission of guilt and if he thinks that undermines his position.

Watching all of this with keen interest will be Brian McNamee’s attorney who is threatening a lawsuit against Clemens if he accuses his client of lying. Clemens is also holding a press conference Monday to answer questions directly from the media. Could an appearance in Congress follow that?
