The website for the Central Intelligence Agency is down at this hour, and a shadowy network of hackers have claimed credit. Anonymous (a group that Gothamist.com has no beef with!) Tweeted "CIA Tango down." ("Tango down," the AP notes, is an expression used by the US Special Forces when they have eliminated an enemy.) A later Tweet explains that Anonymous does it for "the LULZ."
RT reports: "Traditionally known as FuckFBIFriday, this Friday turned into FuckCIAFriday. As hacktivists downed the official website for the Central Intelligence Agency of the United States cia.gov. The CIA seems to be less prepared for fighting Anonymous than other agencies. If the work of dhs.gov was revived in mere minutes, the CIA site is still down even after almost an hour after the attack."
We'll keep refreshing CIA.gov to see how long it takes the intelligence agency get their shit together, but it's been almost an hour, which is pretty embarrassing. Meanwhile, the website for the Culinary Institute of America is still going strong!
