We've finally found something that Donald Trump has impacted in an absolutely positive way: according to a new report, the Central Park carousel was a filthy, unsanitary mess before our future president took it over a year ago. See, he can credibly run a business and not run it into the ground!
Last February, the Parks Department terminated former operator New York One LLC's Central Park contract, after it had already abandoned the Queens Forest Park merry-go-round. Controller John Liu said that this was because the operation constantly cut corners with toilet amenities, and was chock full of gross practices: "The operator's employees built a makeshift toilet in the Central Park carousel's mechanical room using buckets and a funnel. The operator continued to use a dirty popcorn machine and hot dog roller at the Central Park carousel despite a Parks Department order to halt sales."
Auditors said the company owes the city $454,325 for failing to fix up the Central Park and Forest Park carousels. Trump has a ten-year deal to run the carousel currently, so we hope that his grand political ambitions don't lead him down the same dirty-hot-dog-machine path as his predecessors. If anything, Trump should call in some favors from his friends in the rap community and throw his inauguration party by the carousel!
