Further proof that you can never guess what a jury is going to do: Casey Anthony was just acquitted on charges of killing her two-year-old daughter in 2008, countering overwhelming public sentiment that assumed she'd be found guilty.

Florida prosecutors, armed with circumstantial evidence, had said that Anthony used chloroform to render her daughter, Caylee, unconscious, then used duct tape to suffocate her to death. Anthony then allegedly dumped her daughter's body in the woods, where she remained for about a month, before Anthony's mother began to question where Caylee was. The defense attempted to prove that Caylee's death was accidental, and that she had died in the family's pool. Anthony then panicked and attempted to cover up the death.

The trial, which was held in Florida, captured the public's attention as more odd details leaked. In the month that Caylee was missing, Casey never reported her daughter missing, entered a "hot body competition" and got a tattoo that read "beautiful life." Even Anthony's own parents claimed they didn't believe she was innocent. The attention around the trial reached such a fervor that at one point, people got in fist fights to get a seat inside the courtroom. You've got to love America.

Anthony has been charged with giving false information to police, but not guilty of first-degree murder, aggravated child abuse and aggravated manslaughter of a child. As for Anthony being similar to another famous person acquitted, though the public thought he was guilty, TMZ is all over that.
