The drug-dealing spawn of actor Michael Douglas, 31-year-old Cameron, will remain behind bars until his sentencing in April. He faces up to ten years in prison after pleading guilty to dealing crystal meth and cocaine. A Manhattan federal judge denied bail yesterday saying he couldn't be trusted on house arrest (last time they tried that his girlfriend delivered him heroin in an electric toothbrush).

According to the Daily News he had tried to sell the judge a sob story, and his lawyer says his addiction and emotional problems stem from "notoriety that is not due to any acts of his own but by dint of birth" and a "dysfunctional upbringing." His absent parents with a problematic marriage were also noted in what the paper calls his "little boy lost" story.

His shrink testified earlier this month, saying, "He has been sort of a reckless person since he was really young, endangering himself constantly... just screwing up in every way—car accidents, motorcycle accidents, tattoos. I think a lot of it had to do with who his parents are." Upon denying his house arrest, the judge noted that this jail stint might be his longest stretch of sobriety.
