Another buzzy chicken chain is flying into New York City.
Atlanta-based Zaxbys said this week it has opened its first New York restaurant in the Bronx and plans to open a second soon in Manhattan.
The chain, which has about 1,000 locations in 22 states, said the new restaurants at 3260 Boston Road in the Bronx and at 1267 First Ave. on the Upper East Side are part of a big expansion drive in the Northeast. The Bronx restaurant opened June 29 and the UES one will open later this summer, the company said.
“New York is one of the most influential food cities in the world, and we’re incredibly proud to introduce Zaxbys to this market,” CEO Bernard Acoca said in a statement.
A mess of chicken chains have been clucking around the city in recent months.
Charlotte-based Bojangles landed in Brooklyn early this year and plans more than a dozen more restaurants across the city. The Baton Rouge-raised chicken-finger specialist Raising Cane’s has expanded rapidly since opening its Times Square flagship in 2023.
And Jollibee, a popular chain based in the Philippines, in May opened its third Manhattan store, on 42nd Street near Grand Central, joining restaurants in the Bronx and Queens.
