With the election just over 42 days away, President Bush and Senator John Kerry make their way to NYC today, for fundraisers and a piece of the media spotlight. Bush has fundraiser tonight at the Sheraton at 53rd and 7th Avenue tonight and will speaking at the UN General Assembly tomorrow; Kerry is speaking at NYU and has a fundraiser at the Hilton on 6th Avenue and 53rd Street after an appearance on Late Show with David Letterman. Note to self: Getting around near 53rd Street tonight will be a dream. Mayor Bloomberg notes, "We've got a hundred, roughly, heads of state in the city, plus Bush and Kerry. They all have security details. They're all coming and going. Mass transit is probably a good idea for this next week." Gothamist's heart goes out to people working Midtown West and East (especially as the UN opens its new session today). And if you hear Kerry speak at NYU, let us know!
Check out the NY Times' Elizabeth Bumiller's political memo about the differences between Bush and Kerry's speaking styles.
