MTA bus driver Yvonne Farrington got a second chance at meeting the sailor with a "beautiful smile" she ran into over the weekend. After spotting him near the Circle Line pier, Farrington was able to snap a quick photo with the sailor before continuing on her bus route. With the help of 1010WINS, the Navy handed over information on where Farrington could find her man, and the two got to meet yesterday. Unfortunately, 34-year-old Navy Ens. Larry Chester is already taken!
Chester is married to his high school sweetheart and has three kids, but Farrington said she isn't disappointed "because there is a happy woman out there. Hello, Mrs. Chester! You go girl!" The two met on the Iwo Jima, where they shook hands and posed for photographers. Farrington presented him with the photo she took, and thanked him for his service. Chester said, "It is a great photo. I took a lot of photos this week. Everybody wants to stop and take photos with us. I appreciate the city. I want to say thank you to New York City for embracing us this week." Well, we tried, sailor!
Farrington was also surprised at the response her quest received. "I sent one e-mail to [1010 WINS] and the next thing I know this is what is happening. Only in America!"
