Police have arrested and charged the mother of a 1-month-old boy found dead at the family's Brooklyn home with concealing his corpse, NYPD officials said.
Officials said 25-year-old Flatbush resident Gynae Kendall was taken into custody Sunday evening in connection with the death of her son, Adonnys Kendall.
Police discovered the infant in a duffel bag in a closet at the home on Veronica Place and Beverley Road around 7:30 p.m. Saturday, after his grandmother called 911 and asked officers to conduct a wellness check because something seemed amiss, according to authorities.
Officials said the officers initially found nothing, but detectives who returned to the home found the boy’s body.
Police said he had no visible trauma to his body and they are still investigating how and when he died.
City medical examiners are looking into his cause of death, according to the NYPD. A spokesperson for the city’s Office of the Chief Medical Examiner did not immediately return an inquiry.
Information for Gynae Kendall’s attorney was not immediately available Monday morning as she awaited her arraignment in Brooklyn Criminal Court.
