Turns out multiple sexual harassment allegations and some hush money isn't enough to keep old Vito Lopez down; the embattled Assemblyman is apparently eyeing a seat on City Council, even though he's still undergoing an ethics investigation.
The allegedly gropey former Brookyn Democratic party boss, who made his post-scandal return to Albany last month, has apparently been telling people he'll be making a run for City Councilwoman Diana Reyna's District 34 spot. Reyna's chief-of-staff, Antonio Reynoso, is also vying for the seat, and he's been endorsed by City Council Speaker Christine Quinn. "Voters can see the difference: Vito Lopez is a disgraced politician, and I'm a community leader who will fight for affordable housing and good jobs," Reynoso told the Post.
Meanwhile, the Joint Commission on Public Ethics is still investigating claims that Lopez repeatedly sexually harassed harassed female staffers and doled out $103,000 to keep two employees quiet about his inappropriate behavior, so expect to see some fun late-night attack ads soon!
