Bronx Zoo staffers are apparently trying to lure the missing Egyptian cobra out of her hiding space by creating "warm spots" and setting traps baited with live mice. But did they really think that after this much attention she'd emerge for mice? No, this girl won't be happy until she's a brand. Some entrepreneurs have already started an "I Egyptian Cobra New York" line of clothing and accessories on CafePress, so that's a start, but come on CBS, where's the pilot for "Two and a Half Cobras"?
SUNY Potsdam professor of Biology Glenn Johnson said that traps rarely work, and that, "I wouldn't want to be looking for a cobra. Rattlesnakes are pussycats compared to them." And though the zoo seems embarrassed that they haven't found the cobra after five days, it is getting them some good press. One tourist from South Carolina sat outside the closed Reptile House yesterday, and told Newsday, "Actually we sat here purposely. We're just waiting here, hanging out, hoping to see the cobra go by." For that he should probably check out MudTruck, where the cobra tweeted she was getting coffee this morning.
