In an eerie set of circumstances today in the Bronx, a cop mistakenly shot the elderly father of his intended target, echoing the untimely death of his own father. Bronx Narcotics and Emergency Services Unit cops were executing a warrant on a Soundview resident with numerous priors when ESU cop Andrew McCormack fired one shot, hitting the 76-year-old father in the stomach. The victim is said to be in stable condition currently. McCormack's father, who was also an ESU cop, was shot and killed in 1983 during a confrontation with an emotionally disturbed person; the EDP took a wayward shot at McCormack's father, but it ricocheted off of a tree and pierced his bulletproof vest, killing him.
