Anthony Daly was visiting NYC from Boston at the end of December when a violent encounter with the NYPD left his leg broken in three places. Cops were called to the Hotel Chandler on December 27th after getting a report that Daly had assaulted the bartender in the hotel bar. Daly denies assaulting anyone but admits he got drunk and insulted some Englishmen who were singing English football songs. "I put my hands on their backs and just said, 'Sing it up boys, sing it up. That's all that's left of your little empire, soccer,'" Daly tells NY1.

He then went up to join his wife in their room, but soon the NYPD came knocking. "I said if you haven't got an f'ing reason to arrest me, why don't you get the fuck out of here because I want to go to bed. He said, 'I'll think of a reason,'" says Daly. "And with that, Ellen got out of the bed and I put my hand up to stop Ellen and say, 'Stay where you are.' And he just pushed the door and pushed me on top of Ellen." Daly's wife explains, "He said at that point, 'That's it, he just shoved you. You're under arrest for domestic violence.' And I said, 'What are you talking about? He didn't shove me."

Hotel surveillance video shows Daly being led out in handcuffs, then kicked repeatedly by arresting officer Joseph Bonner. He remains on the floor until EMTs take him out on a stretcher; during surgery doctors put in a titanium rod and screws, and Daly may never walk the same way again. He was charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and harassment. An NYPD spokesman says that Officer Bonner "was just trying to sweep Daly's feet out from underneath him and that Daly might have already broken his leg trying to keep officers out of the hotel room."
