Way back in January, before the Jets' Super Bowl dreams were dashed, our mayor made a deal with Pittsburgh Mayor Luke Ravenstahl over the AFC championship. If the Jets had won Ravenstahl would have placed a Jets Fireman hat on a Pittsburgh landmark. But the Jets didn't win, so this morning Bloomie went and lived up to his end of the bargain by hanging a Steelers “Terrible Towel” on a New York City landmark. And what landmark did Mike choose? The just refurbished main branch of the New York Public Library of course!
And Bloomberg's deal with Ravenstahl wasn't the only one he made in January. Hizzoner also promised that we could all "rest assured [that Bloomberg would] go out of town that weekend and go to the Super Bowl and we will tell everybody." Shockingly, we've yet to hear back from the Mayor's office regarding information about his travel plans for this weekend. Update: The mayor's office got back to us regarding the mayor's plans for the weekend, saying "The question was whether the Mayor would go if the Jets were in it." So Bermuda, we guess?
In the meantime, if you are planning on watching the game here are your food options. And if you were wondering how Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger is preparing for the big game... this video of him drinking and singing along to "Piano Man" at a Texas piano bar should give you a pretty good idea.
