Diabetic Colombo mafia don Thomas "Tommy Shots" Gioeli has taken to his blog to beg prosecutors to charge him for the 1982 death of former nun Veronica Zuraw (which they say he already has admitted to). "I demand that AUSA Elizabeth Geddies or FBI Agent Scott Curtis charge me with the crime of killing a former nun so I have the opportunity to show the government's persecution of me and prove my innocence at trial," he posted on a blog he co-writes with his daughter. "I will not stop blogging the truth."
Gioeli is locked up while he awaits trial for a number of charges and has taken to drafting blog posts to his daughter while listening to his alleged crimes on a government-issued iPod. In this case he is upset because the feds want to introduce into court evidence that he was involved in Zuraw's death to help their case, but they don't actually plan to charge him with the crime. Zuraw, a former nun, was killed by a stray bullet from a hit on "porno king" Joseph Peraino and his son, Joseph Jr., pierced her front door. Peraino was paralyzed and his son was killed in the dispute, reportedly over Deep Throat profits.
And the self-admittedly "far from the best Catholic" Gioeli is really angry about this, ranting:
How could they explain that Shitty [Sally Miciotta], the one who actually pleaded guilty to killing Joe Parano and the former nun, never said that Tommy Gioeli was there? He tried to put me in the middle of a different crime scene. In the obsession to vilify me with the heinous crime of killing a woman, a former nun; they picked the wrong crime. They got a Hollywood screenwriter to come up with that line "I'm going to hell for this", and they proceeded. They used one of their dirty new laws: 404(b). This law allows them to lie to the jury by not having to prove the accusations. They're free to slander me in the press and otherwise destroy my honorable reputation. It's a law that they must have adopted from their nazi friends. I will say this in closing: I take my Catholic faith very seriously and am deeply troubled by this accusation. I am far from the best Catholic but I have never killed a nun or anyone else. I deeply resent the deplorable lies that my government openly spreads about me.
Just for reference, Gioeli may not have mistakenly killed a nun in 1982 but the Colombo don has been indicted by the feds for multiple counts of robbery, extortion, and murder—including the killing of off-duty NYPD cop Ralph Dols.
