According to NY1, a man was arrested in the Weeksville section of Brooklyn for allegedly "threaten[ing] two men with a knife and [making] anti-gay comments as they were walking down Utica Avenue between Fulton Street and Atlantic Avenue." The victims found police officers, who arrested Luis Newman for menacing as a hate crime and criminal possession of a weapon. One resident told NY1, "It's got kinda bad around here now you know and it's really bad because you got the school here and then you have a lot of kids who play in this area. There's been so much muggings and killings and people just like losing it."
