As if the fear of bed bugs wasn't enough to keep you up at night, now there's the fear of violent criminals exploiting that fear for their own frightening ends. Bugs! Blood! Terror! Police tell CBS2 two armed men wearing dust masks knocked on the door of a Murray Hill apartment on the morning of May 24th and told the tenant they were bed bug exterminators. Once the door was cracked, they allegedly brandished a gun and bashed the 60-year-old resident on the head.

Police say the two suspects tied up their victim as they ransacked his apartment, on 31st Street and Third Avenue. They reportedly stole "an unknown amount of property" before fleeing in a silver Dodge Nitro. The victim was ultimately taken to the hospital and treated for lacerations on his head. So if the poor guy does have bed bugs, they're going to eat like kings once daddy comes home!

The two men were caught on surveillance video entering the building. Suspect number one is described as: White or Hispanic, 25-30 years old, wearing a gray jacket, stone washed jeans and a dust mask. His accomplice is also white or Hispanic, 40-50 years old, wearing a black jacket with gray stripe, black jeans and a dust mask. If you have any information regarding these perpetrators, the NYPD asks you to call crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS, or submit tips at NYPD Crimestoppers.com or by texting to 274637 (CRIMES) then enter TIP577. Never have there been so many easy ways to snitch!
