Excellent day of weather don't you think? The worst of the rain is over. A few more showers are possible through this evening but they shouldn't be much compared to the downpours earlier today. The Weather Service hasn't yet updated the daily total but it's clearly way over an inch this morning. Up to this point it has been a dry February. That is no longer the case.

The storm responsible for the rain moved blindingly fast out of the Ohio Valley today and will pass through our humble megalopolis later this afternoon. The storm is also rapidly deepening, setting the stage for high winds once the cold front passes. The Weather Service has issued a high wind warning through 11 p.m. We can expect 20-25 mph winds with gusts to 55 mph as cold air gets sucked in toward the low pressure system as it moves away from the city. The storm is moving so fast that we can expect the winds to die down pretty rapidly overnight. It will be plenty cold tomorrow morning. Look for a low in the mid 20s.

After a brief break tomorrow, active weather will be our friend for the remainder of the weekend. An Alberta Clipper brings the possibility of a few snow showers Saturday night and Sunday morning. Following close behind is a storm currently off the west coast that might drop snow on San Francisco. That second storm will likely dump a whole lot of rain across the region starting Sunday afternoon and lasting through Monday. Pacific storms are typically warm so we can expect the temperature to rebound to the mid 40s on Sunday and lower 50s to start the week.
